Age-gap relationships are often very controversial, even when a couple is just 20 years apart. TikToker @a.m.beyond.the.numbers is in an age gap relationship with a man who is a whopping 45 years older than her. She is 22, and he is 67.
The couple insists their connection is about love, not birth years. In a series of videos, they talk about how they met, what their first date was like, and how their families felt about it.
So, he was on a trip and flew home to Toronto, then went out for breakfast at the same restaurant where she happened to work. She was his waitress.
They chatted about his trip, and he showed her some pictures. Sparks flew right away, and they couldn’t stop talking to each other.
He stayed at the restaurant until her shift was over. It was pouring rain outside, so he offered to give her a ride home instead of her having to take the bus.
She ended up giving him her phone number. At first, they were texting constantly, and then the texting turned into three-hour phone calls.
After a couple of weeks of chatting on the phone, they decided to go on their first date. He drove two hours to meet up with her for dinner and a movie. He had to book a hotel room for himself.
At dinner, she ordered shrimp alfredo pasta while he got a burger and fries. He only had about three bites before stopping because it tasted funny.
Afterward, they went back to his hotel room to freshen up. They had some time to spare before the movie, so they started making out.

All of a sudden, he ran to the bathroom and began throwing up. She stayed with him all night to make sure he was okay. The next day, he was too sick to drive home. He had to call his daughter to come and pick him up.
When it came time to break the news of their relationship to their family, @a.m.beyond.the.numbers chose to tell them on her own. Her mom was not supportive of the relationship at first.
“She did not agree with it,” said @a.m.beyond.the.numbers. “She thought I should be with somebody my age, which is understandable, but once my parents got to meet him, they realized that he’s so wonderful, he’s amazing, and he treats me so well.”
“And so, they just realized I was so happy with this guy, and my happiness meant so much more than everything else.”
Eventually, her parents came to a place of acceptance and welcomed him into the family. She is grateful not to have lost her loved ones over something as simple as her relationship, like many others have before.
