She Got Into An Argument With Her Husband About Guinea Pigs Then He Killed Her And Left Her Lying On The Floor

South Windsor, Connecticut. 30-year-old Jessica Edwards had recently gotten married to her husband, 22-year-old Tahj Hutchinson, and together they had a 7-month-old son.

Jessica was about to graduate from Manchester Community College after pursuing a degree in respiratory therapy, but unfortunately, she will never get to wear her cap and gown.

On the evening of May 10th, Jessica’s sister called 911 in a panic to report that she wasn’t at home and her family couldn’t reach her.

Jessica’s sister also informed police that she had shown up at the home Jessica and Tahj shared together to find that Tahj had backed his Jeep up close to the house.

When he caught sight of Jessica’s sister, he slammed the trunk of his car shut. Jessica’s sister had already noticed that there was a blanket covering something up in his trunk.

Although Jessica’s sister asked Tahj about the blanket, he refused to let her look in the trunk. He passed his and Jessica’s 7-month-old son to her and quickly got in his Jeep before driving off.

It was then that Jessica’s sister placed her call to 911. Officers with the South Windsor Police Department arrived at Jessica and Tahj’s home, where Jessica’s sister filled them in.

She mentioned she thought the blanket in his trunk could have been hiding Jessica’s body, and she said that Jessica and Tahj had been fighting a lot lately.

Police officers decided they should search Jessica’s home to make sure she wasn’t injured and inside, but they did not find her there.

They also noted that there were no signs of struggle or blood. There was nothing that led them to believe Jessica had been a victim of a crime in her own home.

Now the search was on to find out where Jessica had gone. Her family and authorities posted on social media asking for people to keep an eye out for her.

Tahj also took to his Facebook page to ask for help finding Jessica. Pictured below is one of his initial posts from the day after Jessica vanished.

2 days after Jessica had gone missing, Tahj took to Facebook to share another post on his wife. “It’s another lonely and worrisome night without you my love,” he wrote.

“Son and I miss you so much! I don’t have an appetite to eat or sleep knowing that you aren’t here with me.”

“Every time I came home you were always there taking care of our beautiful son that we created. Whenever I was down you always lifted me up, I’ve never even been so many days without you.”

“My heart is broken right now, shattered, and my emotions all mixed up. Please please please, wherever you are come back safely.”

“I love you and need you so much, and our son worries about you too, I feel like he barely wants to eat. Please! I love you so much.”

In the days that followed Jessica’s disappearance, the South Windsor Police Department spoke to Tahj multiple times.

In an arrest report obtained by Chip Chick, they noted that he appeared “unemotional” about the fact that his wife was gone. He also showed up to his first interview without his shoes on, which seemed odd.

Authorities then learned he never even mentioned to his own family that Jessica was missing. He also never told his loved ones that he was being questioned about her disappearance.

As the investigation continued, authorities got access to information from Tahj’s cellphone that put him in the middle of the woods.

The South Windsor Police Department headed to that area with cadaver dogs, and on the second day of searching, they found Jessica’s body.

It was May 21st. She was wearing a red top and gray pants, and she was right in the area that Tahj had been in according to his cellphone.

Now, authorities were ready to confront Tahj again with the new information that they had. Finally, he admitted to what he did.

Tahj said that on May 8th, he bought Jessica some guinea pigs for a Mother’s Day present, but she was upset with him for doing that because she was about to do an acrylic manicure at home.

Jessica was very concerned that the guinea pigs could be hurt by the smell of the manicure, and that’s what had made her mad that day.

On May 10th, that morning Jessica and Tahj were still arguing, and according to Tahj Jessica hit his head with a laptop before getting a knife from the kitchen.

Tahj wrestled her for control of the knife, before pinning her to the living room floor. He kneeled with his full weight on Jessica’s neck and back until she was no longer moving.

Tahj then got up, walked off to take care of their son, and left her there lying on the floor. Tahj left Jessica there for the remainder of the day. Meanwhile, Jessica’s loved ones were texting and calling him asking where she had gone. When night fell, Tahj put Jessica’s body in the trunk of his Jeep.

When Jessica’s family got to his house later that evening, he drove off with Jessica in the trunk, then dumped her in the woods. Tahj was arrested and charged with 1st-degree manslaughter for what he did to Jessica.

“More updates will be provided next week after conclusion of the autopsy. He is still being held on a million dollar bond,” the South Windsor Police Department shared in an update. If you would like to donate to the GoFundMe page created for Jessica, you can do so here.
