She Kicked Her Step-Siblings Out For Being Disrespectful But Now, They Want Her To Foot Their Hotel Room Bill
This twenty-nine-year-old woman decided to host a party for her mother and stepfather’s wedding anniversary. But, she, of course, wanted all of her family members to attend.
So, she generously flew her three step-siblings and their partners all out to spend a week in her city. Then, on the weekend, she planned for the entire group to attend the anniversary party.
She and her husband live in a pretty small apartment, though, so there was not enough space to house all of her step-siblings. In turn, they opted to just invite her stepbrother Mark and his partner, Fran, to stay with them.
But, this may not have been the best couple to invite after all.
“No one in our family likes Fran because she is a militant social justice warrior and can’t keep her opinions to herself. And she always has no general etiquette,” she explained.
So, if you could not have guessed it, the entire week Mark and Fran stayed at her apartment, Fran kept making “out-of-pocket comments” about the city and their lifestyle.
But, she tried to look past all of that– until Fran’s judgments really came to a head one particular evening.
That night, she and her husband attended a fancy party and decided to invite Fran and Mark along. And for a short while, everything went swimmingly.
Afterward, though, she invited a few people back to her yacht for an after-party, and all hell broke loose.

Apparently, Fran was super intoxicated and began making more inappropriate comments to the guests– which made everyone feel super awkward.
“Then, one of our friends was telling a story about how he did something funny that incurred a fine. Fran got upset and said how the fine he had paid was more than most people make in a year, and he should be ashamed to be happy to throw that much money around,” she recalled. Yikes!
Fran also went on to say everyone who lived in her city was ungrateful and wasteful. How uncomfortable.
So, in an effort to cut the tension, she decided to make a kind of pointed joke.
“I responded that next time, Fran should take herself camping because I didn’t spend the money to fly her out here, treat her to dinners and parties and yachts for her to be so sad,” she said.
And thankfully, everyone laughed, moved on, and had a great rest of their night.
The following morning, though, she was still utterly pissed off and confronted Mark and Fran about their behavior. She said they humiliated her and that she does not want to house people on her property who are downright disrespectful and embarrassing.
Then, she told the couple that while their flights were still taken care of and they were still welcome to attend the anniversary party, they could no longer sleep at her apartment.
And she admits that if Fran had shown even just a bit of remorse, she probably would have taken her statement back and allowed both Mark and Fran to stay at her place. But, Fran apparently just “doubled down” before storming out to stay in a hotel.
Everything cooled down for a bit after that. Her parents’ wedding anniversary party went off without a hitch, and all of her step-siblings eventually traveled back to their homes.
Afterward, though, she received an unexpected bill from Fran for the cost of her hotel stay– because apparently, Fran claimed that since she kicked them off her yacht, she should have to cover their room.
She was not having it, though, and basically told Fran she could go shove the bill.
But, this heated response made its way throughout her entire family before her parents eventually reached out.
“My parents are now asking that I pay the bill since it was a lot of money for them and not for me, and they came on holiday with the expectation that they would not have to budget for accommodations. But, I said they wouldn’t have had to if they had an ounce of decency,” she vented.
Still, though, her parents think it is utterly wrong of her to make Mark and Fran cover the hotel room out of pocket. So now, she is not sure if holding her ground and refusing to cough up the money was the right thing to do.
If you were in her shoes, would you cover Mark and Fran’s hotel bill? If not, how would you navigate this situation?
