This twenty-two-year-old woman’s cousin, who is a twenty-four-year-old guy, recently proposed to his girlfriend last Wednesday.

And after his now fiancée said “yes,” they apparently decided that they wanted to get married by next Saturday– under two weeks after the proposal!

She claims that her cousin and his fiancée have no real reason to technically “rush” the wedding, but the couple claims they are in a very happy place right now and just want to get married as soon as possible.

Anyway, she understands that the decision is all theirs and is just happy for her cousin. But, they also revealed they wanted to host the ceremony at their grandparent’s house– which she legally inherited.

And to be honest, she had no problem hosting the wedding at the house initially. The only issue was that her cousin and his fiancée wanted to have the ceremony in the backyard, where there was a platform that they wanted the wedding party to sit upon.

Now, the reason why this platform has become such a huge pain point is that one of the bridesmaids is a wheelchair user and requested that she add a ramp to the platform.

She was not against doing that, either, and reached out to a contractor who had worked on various parts of her house before.

Afterward, though, the contractor was forced to inform her that he would not be able to get the ramp in until next month due to personal affairs.

So, she ended up telling her cousin and his fiancée about that, and they became furious at her since she apparently refused to hire another contractor or get a rush job done.

“But I don’t want any sloppy or expensive ramp done in a rush because I don’t have that kind of money saved or want to compromise the quality,” she explained.

She also offered an alternative solution, such as renting a detachable temporary ramp from a nearby shop to use on the day of the event. According to her, though, her cousin, his fiancée, and the bridesmaid were all appalled by her suggestion.

“The bridesmaid’s saying she deserves better accommodative and accepting facilities,” she said.

And quite frankly, she was shocked– especially because her cousin refused to pitch in for the ramp construction and does not even want to pay any portion of the rental ramp fee.

She also noted how the rest of the house is entirely wheelchair accessible since her grandmother required those accommodations.

It is just that single platform in the backyard that only has stairs– so her cousin and his fiancée could theoretically have the wedding elsewhere on the property.

Still, though, the platform in the backyard has continued to cause immense drama in her family.

In fact, her cousin’s fiancée even texted her and claimed that the rest of the family already “walks on eggshells” around her to “make accommodations for her handicap and feelings.”

So, the fiancée claimed that adding a fully constructed ramp in under two weeks was the least she could do.

“For reference, my handicap is my autism. But it’s never occurred to me that it’s a handicap or an issue for people– at least family– to be around me,” she noted.

And after she received that inappropriate text from her cousin’s fiancée, she decided to tell her parents about the whole ordeal. And understandably, her parents were pissed.

They have also since refused to attend the wedding since she– their daughter– was disrespected while trying to help plan the event.

Her aunt, who is her cousin’s mother, caught wind of the drama, too, and has also been debating sitting the wedding out.

So, ever since people started to pull out of the wedding over this, her cousin’s fiancée has started calling her an ableist and an instigator. And now, she has been left wondering if wanting to rent a ramp rather than construct one actually makes her a jerk or not.

Does it make sense why she does not want to rush a contracting job and risk losing money? Do you think her suggestion of renting a detachable wheelchair ramp was reasonable or not? If you were in her shoes, how would you handle this situation?
