When She Was Out To Eat With Her Boyfriend, She Tried To Get Him To Switch Food With Her, But Then He Blew Up On Her For Constantly Doing This To Him Before Dumping Her
A 25-year-old girl has been really good friends with her 25-year-old boyfriend since they were both back in middle school.
Back then, they used to flirt with one another, but they remained just friends for years until taking things in a romantic direction 3 months ago.
“He’s the sweetest guy, and I know he’s been seriously hurt in the past, and I’m so happy we are finally clicking after being “flirt buddies,” she explained.
“Whenever we go out to eat, he always orders the most basic thing—99% of the time, it’s cheeseburger plain, ketchup on the side with honey mustard to dip his fries.”
“He actually loves exotic food, but he says that menus and making choices stresses him out, so he doesn’t want to but thought into it. I love trying exotic things, and to me, that’s the reason to go out to eat. To me, it’s so exciting.”
“My issue is things always look and sound better than they turn out, and I decide that I actually just want a burger. So usually, I’ll ask him if he’ll switch with me, and he always does, and he never complains.”
So, this has become a pattern literally every time they go out to eat together.
She figures it’s good that she makes her boyfriend switch food with her all of the time, as she feels it’s pushing him outside of what he’s comfortable with, and they do not end up wasting anything that she orders as he eats it.
She also thinks her boyfriend likes that she does this to him since he will sometimes comment that what she ordered and didn’t end up wanting to eat tastes decently.
Two evenings ago, she and her boyfriend wound up working pretty late into the night, and after they were finished, they decided to meet one another at a local sports bar. When they arrived, she noticed there was a special on the menu, calamari, and she thought it sounded great, so she ordered that (surprise, her boyfriend got his standard cheeseburger).
“I just wasn’t feeling the calamari when it came out, so I asked if he’d switch with me,” she said. “He said no. I asked him why not, and said I didn’t want it to go to waste. He said then you shouldn’t have ordered it. I was like excuse me. He then went into a tirade and said I treat him like a garbage disposal, he’s a grown man, I’m being immature, don’t pin my crap on him, etc.”
“I said it sounded like that was a rehearsed speech. He said maybe it was since I “insist” on stealing his food every time we go somewhere. I started crying, and he (edited) said, don’t start that b******* with me, here have both meals, and he got up and walked out.”
The next morning before 6 a.m., he had not reached out to her at all, and she was expecting him to call or text her to offer up an apology.
She thought it would be a good idea to call her sister at around 5:30 that morning to see what her opinion was on everything. Her sister called her “crappy” to constantly be pressuring her boyfriend into giving her his food, and then her sister hung up on her.
Eventually, her boyfriend called her up to say that he wanted to take a break from her, as he has not been happy at all for the last 3 months.
He also said he didn’t think being in a relationship with her was a good idea for him. Initially, she was trying to figure out if she was a jerk for forcing her boyfriend to give up his food all along, but now she admits that she is.
