This 26-year-old woman grew up extremely close to her female cousin, who is also 26.

Her father and her cousin’s father just so happen to be identical twins, which helped mold their tight-knit relationship.

Plus, being that she and her cousin are the same age, they always thought of themselves more as “half-sisters” rather than just cousins.

And now that she is an adult and engaged, she and her fiancé enjoy hanging out with her cousin several times a month. They have even gone on short trips together with just the three of them.

“I am so glad we all get along really well and are super close,” she said.

“But I wonder if sometimes she crosses boundaries.”

Apparently, her cousin has said and done a bunch of different things, which make it seem like her cousin might have feelings for her fiancé.

For instance, despite the fact that her cousin has had a boyfriend for two years, her cousin will still make comments that she needs to find someone like her fiancé. Her cousin also admitted to wishing her fiancé had a brother.

Additionally, her cousin makes other strange remarks to her. One time, her cousin admitted to wishing that their boyfriend was more like her fiancé. Plus, she got told that she was “so lucky” to be with him.

Other times, when her boyfriend is with them, her cousin acts weird, too.

There was also one evening when her cousin started trying on various outfits as they were getting ready for a night out.

But her cousin proceeded to only ask for her fiancé’s opinions on the outfits. Her cousin asked how she looked, if her fiancé liked the get-ups, and whether or not the outfits were too revealing.

Finally, she claimed that her cousin jokingly refers to her fiancé as “our fiancé.” And whenever her cousin is drunk around him, she will be very touchy-feely.

“One time, my cousin even put her head in his lap when drunk as if using his leg as a pillow,” she recalled.

“That was the turning point for me.”

Ever since realizing that her cousin kind of crosses the line when interacting with her fiancé, though, she has been unable to figure out how to address the situation with her cousin.

On the one hand, if she mentions nothing, she knows that she will continue feeling a bit disrespected and uncomfortable with the fact that her cousin acts flirtatiously and attention-seeking around her fiancé.

However, if she does bring the issue up to her cousin, she’s worried that she would just get gaslit and accused of being jealous, crazy, and reading too much into her cousin’s behavior.

“But honestly, maybe I am reading too much into things,” she vented.

“Maybe she just sees him as a good guy and friend. And for what it’s worth, my fiancé hasn’t mentioned anything about it, so I assume nothing has bothered him.”

Regardless, she still thinks her cousin’s behavior is a bit strange. So, she’s been left wondering how to broach the topic without causing drama or seeming accusatory.

If your cousin acted like this around your fiancé, would it also make you uncomfortable? What are the odds that her cousin is just being friendly and doesn’t have a crush on her fiancé? Would you still broach the topic anyway? How should she go about starting that discussion?
