Have you ever had a doctor tell you they saw something during an exam they needed to run further tests on?

It happens to many of us, and even though things turn out alright most of the time, it’s a very scary and stressful moment. It can be even more stressful when you’re not in the best-running doctor’s office.

One woman recently went in for a biopsy and had to confront the doctor’s office receptionist after she messed up her appointment time.

She’s 28-years-old and was panicked when her doctors told her there were some abnormalities during her latest exam that they needed to run more tests on, as they thought she might’ve had cancerous tumors.

“Obviously, this was not a pleasant surprise, but they have been really great so far about getting all of my tests lined up so we can have some kind of game plan in place,” she explained.

“Yesterday, I had a biopsy scheduled. I received a text from the clinic in advance confirming my appointment time and all the various details around fasting and whatnot.”

“My husband and I made sure we arrived half an hour in advance in case there was paperwork or anything of the like, and I was all checked in with reception.”

Her doctor took her back for her biopsy at what she thought was her actual appointment time, and everything went smoothly.

But then, when she was leaving, her doctor made a remark and asked her to call the office to let them know if she was ever going to be two hours late again so that no one would be inconvenienced.

“I was very confused and showed her the text message confirming my appointment time,” she recalled.

“She could clearly see that I had been on time, so she said that she would take it up with the lady who took the booking in the first place.”

“When I headed up to reception to schedule the next appointment, the same receptionist was working as when I made the initial appointment, and I asked that she please clarify that the time I had booked was the time she had put in the system.”

When she told the receptionist what her doctor had told her about being two hours late, she acted like nothing was wrong and claimed no mistake had been made on her end. But then, the receptionist got pulled aside by the doctor.

The drama began to ensue as the receptionist accused her of incorrectly scheduling appointments. She clarified that she was only upset because her appointment confirmation text listed one time while her doctor’s schedule had a different time.

“The doctor confirmed my story, so I again asked that the receptionist please just check that the time I had and the time she had in her schedule was the same,” she said.

“The receptionist started tearing up but confirmed that we both had the same time, so I thanked her and left.”

“It was in the car on the way home that my husband told me he overheard the receptionist telling another patient that she had only been working at the clinic for two months, and he said I was a bit harsh on her given that she was new.”

She disagreed with her husband, telling him she didn’t speak to the receptionist in a rude tone or anything. However, he believes she let the stress of the biopsy get the better of her and should have let the situation with the receptionist go.

Was she wrong to confront the receptionist, or was she right to bring up the mistake?
