I’m always in awe of people who continue to do what they love and spread joy and positivity despite facing tremendous hardships.

While it’s understandable for those people to want to throw in the towel, some rise above their tragedy and make the most of their situations.

One retired teacher in Texas is inspiring others with her resilience after losing her arms and legs due to septic shock.

Sherri Moody was a teacher for 28 years and was teaching at Deer Park High School in Deer Park, Texas, when her life changed forever last April.

On April 21st, 2023, Sherri’s husband, David, rushed her to the hospital after she presented symptoms that appeared to be a bad case of dehydration.

However, she turned out to have a severe case of double pneumonia. Terrifyingly, that pneumonia developed into septic shock. Before Sherri’s family knew it, she was fighting for her life.

To make matters worse, Sherri faced intense complications due to a medication that kept her organs functioning but caused issues with blood flow to her limbs.

During an already horrifying stay in the hospital, Sherri’s hands and feet began to die, and they had to be amputated.

However, after 108 days in the hospital, Sherri could finally go home and be with her husband, son Jake, and daughter-in-law Mika.

Since healing from her amputations, Sherri has faced a few setbacks, like infections in her knees. Despite everything she’s had to face, she’s made tremendous progress and has not lost her vim for life.

She stays passionate about her hobbies and loves spending quality time with her family as she adjusts to living her life without limbs.

Sherri has a lot of support from her local community and total strangers, as her miraculous journey has gone viral online.

GoFundMe page created by Sherri and David’s friend raised over $92,000 to help pay her medical bills. Several different fundraisers from her community and local businesses have also pitched in.

“You all have been such a blessing to us,” wrote David in a Facebook post made for the group Sherri Moody Updates.

“We don’t know you all, but it doesn’t make us any less grateful that you’ve lifted Sherri in continuous prayer. You’ve hurt we hurt. You’ve celebrated when we’ve celebrated.”

We’re sending Sherri, David, and their family a lot of support as they continue to live a life of joy and perseverance.
