This 23-year-old woman and her husband, who is 29, have been together for three years and married for one year now.

Like many other young women her age, men also tend to approach her and ask her out sometimes when she goes out.

“And I always just politely say I am married, and that’s that,” she said.

But, just last month, she actually got asked out by a coworker at her job. In response to that, she said her usual spiel about how she’s married.

However, she also added that his advance was a bit inappropriate since they had worked together.

This made her coworker apologize, and she told him that there were no hard feelings. Afterward, they were able to just move past what happened.

“I didn’t mention it to my husband because I am not in the habit of telling him every time a man asks me out. In fact, I hardly tell him because why would I?” she explained.

Well, that became an issue yesterday when her boss hosted a company-wide dinner, and her husband joined her for the event.

At first, everything was fine, and she just introduced him to all of her coworkers. Then, that particular male coworker who asked her out actually walked up to her and asked, “Oh, is this the husband, then?” in a joking manner.

She just said yes, introduced her husband to that coworker, and tried to move on with the rest of the dinner.

Yet, when they left the event, her husband was still confused by the strange interaction and asked why her male coworker had made that remark.

This pushed her to come clean about how her coworker had asked her out, to which she turned him down by saying she was married. And her husband was super upset that she didn’t tell him sooner.

“I apologized and told him I genuinely did not know that he would want to know,” she recalled.

Nonetheless, her husband became furious and even screamed at her – claiming “of course” he would want to know.

His strong reaction really shocked her, and she tried saying how sorry she was. Yet, her husband proceeded to interrogate her about that specific coworker as well as her other colleagues.

During this argument, she answered all of his questions and hoped they’d be able to move on afterward. To her dismay, though, he’s still been angry at her ever since.

“He says he knows I don’t want to cheat on him, but that’s how it makes him feel,” she vented.

So now, she’s been left wondering if not mentioning a coworker had asked her out was really such a jerky thing to do.

Do you think people should always tell their spouses when they’re asked out? Or does it matter more when it occurs in certain environments, like the workplace?
