Imagine waking up every single day knowing you hold a secret that could instantly blow up your brother’s life, only for your parents to treat you like the problem because you want to come clean.
This man is left feeling like his world has fallen apart, but let’s rewind to a couple of months ago, when his brother was encountering a tough spot in his marriage.
He grew closer and closer to his brother’s wife, and it definitely was inappropriate. One evening, with a little liquid courage, they crossed the line and slept together.
“It was a massive mistake, one that I have regretted every single day since. I distanced myself immediately, and I thought we had both moved on,” he explained.
“Last week, she called me in a panic. She’s pregnant, and she’s sure it’s mine. When I confronted her, she begged me not to say anything.”
“She told me she and my brother have been trying for a baby for years and that this is their last chance to have a family. She’s planning to tell him it’s his, and she wants me to act like it never happened.”
He turned to his parents and confided in them, hoping that they could help him figure out the right thing to do. Shockingly, his mom and dad weren’t mad at him, but they did say he has to stay quiet about the truth and cannot tell a single soul that he’s the father of his sister-in-law’s baby.
His mom and dad reminded him that his brother is happy, and if he finds out who the father of the baby is, it will wreck his life, his marriage, and their entire family.
There’s too much at stake. Too much to lose. His mom and dad have demanded that he stick to the lie for the remainder of his life and pretend the baby is not his.

“I feel like a ghost in my own family. Every time I see my brother, I feel like a criminal. He’s so excited about becoming a father, and I’m the one who did this to him,” he continued.
“I’m drowning in guilt, but my parents are treating me like I’m the problem for wanting to come clean. I don’t know how much longer I can keep this up.”
Well, he already did ruin his brother’s life; his brother just doesn’t know it yet. I think he needs to scrape together some decency and tell his brother the truth.
I feel horrible for his brother that everyone is willing to be complicit in the lie and let him think this baby is actually his.
