Paris Hilton Says It Was “Painful” To Listen To Sarah Silverman Joke About Her Going To Jail While She Sat In The Audience At The 2007 MTV Movie Awards

The 2007 MTV Movie Awards were held in Universal City, California, and Sarah Silverman was the host of the well-known awards that year.

While Sarah was hosting, she made some pretty cruel “jokes” at Paris Hilton’s expense, and Paris was sitting in the audience while this was all happening.

Earlier this week on an episode of her podcast called This is Paris, Paris actually took some time to talk about how “painful” it was to listen to Sarah do this to her in such a public setting.

“What Sarah Silverman did was so…disgusting and cruel and mean, and I was so shocked and surprised because I’d actually met her a few years before, um, when I was at an event, and she couldn’t be nicer. So sweet,” Paris said.

“I knew I was about to check myself into jail in a couple of hours…To sit in the audience with her just literally publicly humiliating me, being so mean, so cruel…I was sitting there wanting to die. I was trying to hold back my tears so hard.”

“It was so painful, especially what I was going through in my life…to have someone so mean about it was…really hard.”

Paris kicked off her most recent podcast episode by saying that she was recently alerted by one of her friends that Sarah apologized for the incident on her own podcast.

Apparently what Paris said did get back to Sarah, who took some time to address everything.

Sarah said that after she made the comments regarding Paris, “The crowd went bananas, and while I was thrilled at the success of my monologue, I remember spotting her in the audience.”

“I really do,” Sarah continued, recalling that point in time. “And I remember seeing that look on her face and my heart sank because there was a person under there.”

Sarah also said she tried to write a letter apologizing to Paris after the incident, but Paris never got the letter.

Paris acknowledged that it’s difficult for anyone to make an apology and she wasn’t expecting one from Sarah.

She mentioned that she does think the apology that Sarah made recently to her is sincere, and that everyone learns in life that it’s not funny to make fun of people.

“We have all said things in our past that we felt bad about and later regretted,” Paris said.

“That night at the MTV awards has haunted me for a very long time,” Paris admitted, before wondering who Sarah sent her first apology letter to since she didn’t receive it, and stating that she never thinks it is too late for anyone to take time to apologize.
