Known for narrating scary stories, TikToker @zaccharine recently shared a chilling tale someone had sent in about a haunted phone call.

The storyteller was 16 years old at the time, and he was just sitting on the couch in the living room, watching TV, when the phone suddenly rang in the kitchen.

It was one of those cordless landline phones. He ignored it until it stopped ringing. But then, it started ringing again.

Annoyed, his sister grabbed the phone, answered it, came over to the living room, and handed him the phone. She said that his friend wanted to talk to him. But when he took the phone and held it up to his ear, all he heard was silence.

So, he hung up, set the phone down, shrugged it off, and kept watching TV. About 20 minutes later, the phone rang again. He picked it up and heard people talking.

“I feel like I’m eavesdropping; I feel like somebody [accidentally] dialed me, and now, I’m just listening to this conversation,” he said.

“But you know me, I’m being a little bit devious, and I’m being real quiet, trying to pick up on what it is they’re saying.”

From what he could gather, the voices on the other end were two women talking about a coworker. He thought he could recognize the voices, but eventually, he got bored and made himself known by saying hello into the phone. They immediately hung up.

He set the phone back down and went back to watching TV. Another 20 minutes later, his mom came home from work. She started to step into the living room, but his sister stopped her because she wanted to talk to her about something.

As he sat there, half-listening to their conversation, he realized that he had heard this conversation before on the phone, 20 minutes ago.

“So, I look at them, and I tell them that,” he said. “And they both stop and turn toward me. My sister says, ‘You too?’ Apparently, this had been happening to them for months.”

“The phone would ring; it would either be no one, or it would be someone talking, and then later, that conversation would happen.”

In the comments section, many TikTok users described their own haunting experiences involving loved ones who had already passed away.

“My husband and I own a business. After my husband died, I was at work on the weekend, trying to figure out stuff he did. I was frustrated about something and started crying. A fax came through with the answer to my question. No phone number on top, just the info I needed. I had proof to show people,” commented one user.

“We had a baby monitor in my newborn daughter’s bedroom. My husband was in the living room, and over the monitor, he heard my mom say, ‘You’re such a good girl.’ My mom had died 11 years earlier,” shared another.

“Two weeks after my dad passed away, my mom got home from work, and the phone rang. She picks it up, and it’s my dad talking to her. She said she heard everything he said, it just sounded like he was underwater. She was really shaken up, but it really happened,” added a third.
