When she was 10 years old, TikToker Deja (@dae_mama) did something that most adults never do in their entire lives: she delivered a baby.
At the time, Deja’s mother was in foster care, and she had foster siblings who used to harass Deja. Her mom’s foster sister, Patricia, would often beat Deja from the age of six to 10. Patricia was 17 years old.
One day, Deja, her mom, her brother, and Patricia were staying in a hotel. Deja had to share a bed with Patricia, who was pregnant, even though she claimed she was gay.
While Deja’s mom and her brother were walking to the corner store, Patricia took a bath. Deja was on the bed when she suddenly heard Patricia screaming for her.
She rushed to the bathroom and saw Patricia sitting on the toilet. The baby was coming into the world, and Deja didn’t know what to do. Patricia yelled for her to grab the baby. As she went to grab the baby, it fell out.
Deja ran all the way to the store to find her mom and tell her that Patricia had just had her baby in the toilet. Her mom sped back to the hotel, leaving her and her brother behind.
Once her mom arrived at their hotel room, she scooped the baby out of the toilet. They all went to the hospital, and that was the last time she ever saw Patricia.
The baby Deja helped deliver is now thriving. She is 21 years old and is in college.
“But it’s so crazy because I found the baby,” said Deja. “The baby ended up going to foster care and being adopted by an amazing family.”

“I love this family. We keep in touch. She’s doing so well. She’s in basketball, like she’s in all the newspapers and stuff like that.”
Deja told her the story of how she was born. Together, they tried to find out who her father was because Patricia had been lying about his identity. Later, they learned that the dad was actually the foster mom’s nephew, who was super old.
In the comments section, everyone’s jaws dropped at her traumatic story, and they praised Deja for her resilience.
“Every single adult around you failed you, and I just want to say I am so sorry you had to go through that, but I admire your adversity and strength in telling your story,” commented one user.
“This is almost literally the story of my mother’s birth. My grandma was in the bathroom when she went into labor, and the only person who could help was my uncle, who was only a child himself. I think he was old enough to call someone for help, though,” shared another.
“Grown men pass out in the delivery room. I can’t imagine a 10-year-old,” declared a third.
