How would you feel if your siblings and parents told you that they think it’s all your fault that they all grew up in poverty, and they regret you ever being born?

This 16-year-old guy’s mom and dad were too poor to afford to have kids, yet they had four regardless. When it was only his three oldest siblings, everything was less of a financial hardship, and his siblings didn’t really notice how tight they were on cash.

But after he came along, it got ugly. His parents are already not responsible with their finances, and adding him to the family meant that they had to make sacrifices and cuts in order to afford to keep him.

“My parents are irresponsible in other ways, and they make a ton of bad decisions. It has impacted all four of us over the years,” he explained.

“Whenever I need to use the internet or do something with tech for school, I go to my best friend’s house (I’m here RN). I sleep at his house sometimes because my parents don’t really care if I’m home or not.”

“I think they prefer not having any of us around so they can just be irresponsible without any guilt or fight about it. But especially me. My parents have said before [that] they regret having me. I always wanted to think my siblings, even if they had some resentment toward me, loved me and knew it was our parents’ fault things got this bad.”

Over the weekend, his older siblings were home, and on Friday evening, they were making a fuss over how their parents don’t help them out with money.

His siblings added that after he was born, their financial hardships got even more dire. They think that life before he came into the picture was so much better.

He questioned his siblings about why they feel the blame should be placed on him when it’s really their mom and dad who should be held accountable.

“They said they love mom and dad and admitted they accepted them, flaws and all. That they never resented them for the bad stuff,” he continued.

“But they do resent me because I changed things so much, and it was all for the worse. They told me [that] if I had never been born, everyone’s lives would be so much better, and it’s not our parents’ fault in their opinions.”

“I was really freaking hurt. Maybe I even cried a little IDK. But my siblings didn’t even look guilty, admitting they blamed me and not our parents. They even told me they wished I would just leave them alone and stop ruining things.”

He left home on Friday evening to stay with his best friend instead of spending time with his family. Yesterday, his dad stopped by to bring him home, and he didn’t want to go with him.

His dad accused him of abandoning their family and acting like a child. He still has not gone home, and he’s left wondering what he should do.

Wow, his family is the worst! His mom and dad are the problem, not him, and shame on his siblings for displacing their anger and making him the fall guy for his parents’ shortcomings.

I wonder if he could move in with his best friend and his family. He should open up to all of them about what’s sadly happening at home.

What advice do you have for him?
