This 25-year-old woman has a friend named Morgan, who is 27. But in recent years, she and Morgan have actually drifted apart because of how Morgan handled an incident at their mutual friend’s wedding back in 2019.

Apparently, their mutual friend– named Lucy– had asked Morgan to make some treats and desserts for the wedding reception. And at the time, Morgan agreed.

“This was the only food that was going to be at the reception other than cocktail sandwiches,” she added.

Anyway, Morgan and Lucy came to an agreement on a price for all of the desserts. And at that point, Lucy and her partner were the only people paying for the event.

But then, seven months before the ceremony, Lucy’s parents wound up offering to pay for the remaining wedding fees– to which Lucy agreed.

So, on paper, it looked like Lucy and her partner had a bunch of extra money to pay Morgan more for the desserts she was making.

According to her, though, that just was not the case. Instead, all of that money was quickly allocated to all kinds of other fees and expenses.

Morgan still wound up finding out about the “extra money” on the day of Lucy’s wedding, though. So, Morgan actually tried to get Lucy to pay more for the desserts.

But, Lucy was forced to refuse– and not because she didn’t want to pay Morgan, but because there was literally no money left.

Morgan just did not understand that, though, and actually decided to take back all of the baked goods she brought for the wedding! Morgan packed them all into the back of her truck– leaving all of the guests with nothing to eat for most of the reception.

Due to this, Lucy was understandably having a breakdown. At the same time, all of her friends and much of Lucy’s family were trying to convince Morgan to bring the food back inside.

But Morgan would not budge, and other people were forced to take the evening into their own hands.

“Luckily, some people went and ordered a ton of pizzas, burgers, milkshakes, etc., and the wedding was saved,” she explained. “But it caused so much unnecessary stress.”

And following this incident, she decided to basically stop talking to Morgan. Yes, Morgan is still “vaguely” in her friend group because she is “loosely related” to her friend Lucy.

So, Lucy has just been trying to get over the whole wedding ordeal because they have to see each other at family gatherings and such.

She recently announced her own engagement back in December, though, and will be tying the knot in August 2023. And unlike Lucy, she is not looking to bury the hatchet. Instead, she decided to invite everyone but Morgan to the event.

Now, she claims she isn’t trying to be a jerk. Rather, she thinks it is clear that Morgan has proved to be a very vindictive person who is calculated in their malicious intentions. And the last thing she wants to worry about on her big day is kicking Morgan out.

So, she and her friends now have a separate wedding group chat that Morgan is not a part of. But Morgan has found out that she is getting married and is pretty upset about the lack of an invite.

Recently, Morgan even gave her a call and asked why she didn’t extend an invitation. She didn’t cave, though, and outlined exactly why.

First, she pointed out how they really are not friends. Even before Lucy’s wedding, she and Morgan were merely acquaintances.

Second, she admitted how Morgan’s behavior both at and following Lucy’s wedding made her seriously doubt Morgan’s maturity. And since she wants her day to be special, she doesn’t want to take any chances.

“I know I can’t prevent EVERYTHING from happening at my wedding, but if I can remove one factor– someone who is known for being argumentative and vindictive– for my own anxiety, then fine,” she vented.

Ever since she and Morgan had that conversation, though, Morgan has been super upset and is trying to get Lucy to convince her to change her mind.

And now, she’s been left wondering whether refusing to invite Morgan due to her behavior at Lucy’s wedding makes her a jerk or not.

Is it understandable why she doesn’t want Morgan at her wedding? Are you required to provide any explanation for who you choose to invite or not invite to your nuptials? If you were in her shoes, would you invite Morgan?
