It’s devastating to realize the person you married and wanted to spend forever with was busy building a secret life without your knowledge. But sometimes, the universe works in interesting ways to deliver revenge that a cheater totally deserves.

This 38-year-old woman and her 39-year-old husband are getting a divorce after her husband cheated on her and decided to pick this other girl instead.

She trusted her husband too much and never saw this coming. She thought they were happily married, but he was sleeping with another woman behind her back.

“I was researching vacation options for our 10th anniversary next year, and meanwhile, he [M39] was running around with another woman (she’s either 25 or 27, I can’t remember which). I never thought heartbreak like this was real, but he broke my heart,” she explained.

“I’ve known people who have gotten a divorce, and you have to live separately for a year before you can get a divorce. But I wanted to be prepared, so I made an appointment with a lawyer now. It was probably the best thing I’ve ever done.”

“She told me that in our state, alimony is forbidden if there is adultery. Since my husband cheated, I won’t have to pay alimony. I was prepared that I would have to pay out the nose. But I have proof that he cheated (that he gave me himself), so I won’t have to pay him.”

She says this is the most amazing news, because she was convinced that she was on the hook for having to pay her husband a ton of money.

Also, since their divorce is not no-fault, she won’t have to spend a year separated from her husband first. She gave her lawyer the proof that her husband cheated on her, and her lawyer filed the paperwork to get it done based on the fact that her husband is an adulterer.

She does still live with her husband in a technical sense, as their lease expires at the end of the month, meaning she thought the clock started on November 1st for their separation.

“I wish I could be there to see his face when 1) he gets served with notice that I filed, and 2) he finds out he won’t get alimony because he cheated,” she continued.

“He wanted a no-fault divorce, and I know he was counting on getting alimony. It was the best news I could have gotten. I don’t even have words for how amazing I feel.”

While I love this for her, I’m worried that as soon as her husband finds out that he’s about to be penniless, he could lash out. I think she needs to make sure she has all of her belongings out of their house before their lease is up, and before he gets word of how broke he’s going to be.

What advice do you have for her?
