Getaways are supposed to feel refreshing, not like you’re living in a horror movie, but for her, a little trip for her best friend’s birthday went totally sideways, because of her creep of a husband.

What would you do if your best friend’s spouse inappropriately touched you on a getaway trip? Would you immediately tell your best friend, or keep quiet for fear of destroying the relationship?

On a recent weekend, this woman and her group of friends booked an Airbnb to celebrate her best friend’s birthday. They were all looking forward to spending time together, using the hot tub, and going out to dance.

For the first evening of their mini vacation, they all went out to have dinner at a restaurant, followed by heading to a local bar to go dancing.

They had an amazing time and returned to the townhouse they were renting a bit after midnight. She had a lot to drink, because she’s stressed out working 55 hours a week and has to watch her kids nonstop.

“We got to the Airbnb, and I went to my room (that I was sharing with my BF). I [faceplanted on] the bed, still fully dressed, and was done. I have vague memories of voices, a laugh, and hands. I do not want to remember anything more,” she explained.

“The next morning, my BF asked if I remembered anything from the night before. I said no, and he told [me] that while everyone was partying, my best friend’s husband kept coming upstairs.”

“He would come into our room(you can see the door from part of the living room/it was a loft style), be in with me for a bit, and come downstairs again. It happened a couple of times. My BF [got] creeped out and decided to end his night and come sit with me.”

While her boyfriend was in the room with her, her best friend’s husband came in to chat with him a few times. The final time he walked into the room, her best friend’s husband rubbed her back with both of his hands and moved to the top of her backside.

He quit as her boyfriend shot him a look, got up, and left. She can’t recall what happened because, as she said, she did have a couple of drinks.

Oh, and apparently her boyfriend didn’t do more than give her best friend’s husband a dirty look because he froze due to a similar incident he experienced when he was younger, so he had like an out-of-body moment and failed to act.

When her boyfriend told her later that her best friend’s husband inappropriately touched her, she wasn’t about to alert her best friend and wreck her birthday.

Also, she was scared to lose her friendship if she relayed this to her best friend, and her best friend didn’t believe her. Later on in the trip, she got into an argument with her boyfriend and went upstairs to be with her best friend.

Suddenly, they overheard her boyfriend confronting her best friend’s husband for touching her!

Her best friend’s husband insisted he didn’t do anything wrong before saying his culture is more touchy-feely than normal. He also said she’s gorgeous, and so that entails a certain level of crazy that her boyfriend should come to accept.

“She looked at me and asked if it was true. I told her I didn’t remember. I had a look on my face clearly because she told me she wasn’t mad at me and said she was going downstairs,” she added.

“This created a huge fight. All around. People were not sober, it got loud and heated, and went [on] for hours between different arguments taking precedence based [on] things said.”

“The next morning was clean-up and head home day. I left with two other girlfriends and made the hour-and-a-bit trip home.”

Her best friend did not join them, and they found out that after they departed, there was a second incident with her best friend’s husband and another one of their friends over the weekend.

Her best friend questioned them about the validity of that, but none of them felt they could tell her much. Now, everyone in their friend group is upset, and her best friend is ignoring them all.

She’s afraid that her worst fears came true and that she did lose her best friend. She is also upset that she’s going to be the reason her best friend’s marriage could come to an end.

First of all, if her best friend’s marriage is over and done with, it’s absolutely not her fault; it’s squarely on her best friend’s husband.

And second, if she loses her best friend over this, oh well. Her best friend should be thinking that her husband’s behavior is unacceptable.

P.S. Shame on her boyfriend for just side-eyeing the guy.

What advice do you have for her? Does this second victim make it easier or harder for the best friend to believe the truth?
