Thanks to Geico car insurance, TikToker Em’s (@em.in.her.head) car has been missing for five days. Her car was broken into the day before New Year’s Eve, so she called the police to file a report.

She also called Geico to make a claim. About 30 minutes later, her car was towed and taken to a lot just down the road.

She was told that it would be picked up the next morning. Then, she got a call from the rental car company, and at the end of the call, she asked what location they were in. It turned out that the rental car company was more than 100 miles away from her, which was a two-hour drive.

When she questioned why her reservation for a rental car was booked at a location so far away, they informed her that her car was scheduled to be taken to an auto body shop right down the road from them. Of course, Em called Geico to ask why her car was being towed so far away.

“Surely, there’s somewhere closer,” said Em. “I live in a large city, like there should be plenty of shops around. I was told the car was going to be taken 30 minutes away from me, Wednesday morning, New Year’s Eve.”

On Wednesday morning, she received a call from the auto body shop that was located two hours away. They said she owed $3,500 for the broken window.

“I call Geico back and explain the situation, and they say we have no record of your phone conversation with the woman from last night, confirming that it would be taken to a different location, which is wild because I have the woman’s name,” said Em. “I have the claim number, and I’ve got the time of the call, but they have no information about it.”

They told her that they would take her car to a shop about 20 minutes away from her. At one in the morning, she received a text confirmation that her car was being towed.

On Monday, after the holiday, she called Geico to confirm her car was towed to the right location. They said it was, but when she called the shop, they didn’t have her car.

After some more phone calls, she realized that no one seemed to know where her car was. Many TikTok users shared similar stories about dealing with car theft in the comments section.

“When my Kia got stolen parts, it took three months to get parts and Geico only paid a month of it and had to pay $40 a day from Enterprise. It was a horrible experience,” wrote one user.

“Girl, my car was stolen and later was found. Towed it to the body shop to get fixed, and when we called the body shop, they had no record of my car. The tow company sold it,” commented another.

“My car also went ‘missing’ after a Geico tow, but what happened was the tow truck left it on the dealer lot, and the auto body lot was across the street, but the auto body shop guy had to walk around for over an hour to find it,” added someone else.
