For anyone who’s ever worked in a hospital or nursing home, you’ve probably heard of or even witnessed for yourself when death is near.

TikToker Bishop Mortimer (@bishopmortimer) has worked as a dietary aide, housekeeper, activities assistant, and in the kitchen staff at a hospital, so he’s seen some things.

“As a person who’s had many jobs throughout my life, I’ve worked in one hospital and three retirement homes, and when they say you can sense when death is in there, it is absolutely true,” he said.

Every time he set the table for breakfast, he would see things out of the corner of his eye. One morning, he was setting the table as usual when he saw a shadow person moving at a moderate pace.

At first, he thought it was a resident and called out to the person, thinking someone might need assistance, but when he looked over, he realized that it was not a resident at all.

He was having a hard time processing what he was seeing because the figure was dark and kept walking down the hall. It suddenly disappeared, even though there was no door or visible exit in that direction.

He told his mom, who was a psychic, what happened. She said it sounded like a form of death. In conclusion, it meant that someone in the retirement home would be passing away soon.

Later that day, he was cleaning up after lunch service when he saw a body covered with a white sheet being rolled out of the elevator.

He asked the secretary who had died and was told that it was one of the only Black ladies on the second floor of the memory care unit. The timing was way too coincidental to ignore.

In the comments section, several TikTok users shared their own spooky encounters with death while working with the elderly. Dozens of people described the same peripheral shadows and heaviness in the air.

Others described flickering lights and call buttons randomly going off.

“I used to work at a long-term care facility, and I’ve seen them out of the corner of my eye, too. I thought I was crazy, and then some other people there told me they saw the same things,” commented one user.

“I had an Instacart delivery at an old person’s home. Felt so dark and heavy in there,” stated another.

“I used to work as a housekeeper in a nursing home, and I would feel so uncomfortable in the dining hall. Idk why,” added a third.

The overwhelming response shows that @bishopmortimer is not alone in what he has experienced. The phenomenon is widespread. Whether it’s explained by stress, grief, or something more supernatural is up to you to decipher.
