If your mom made a pretty poor life choice, then tried to manipulate you into moving home and bailing them out, how would you feel? Would you do it out of a sense of duty, or tell your mom to take a hike?

It was five years ago that this 19-year-old girl’s dad passed away. Leading up to her dad’s death, he had a lot of problems with one of their male neighbors.

“This guy blamed my dad for everything from his divorce to him losing his job to animals getting into his yard when we had no animals in our house,” she explained.

This neighbor hated her dad’s guts and would scream at him, as well as her and her mom. Even after her dad’s passing, the neighbor kept on yelling at the two of them.

“So it was a big shock to me when I found out they (mom and neighbor) had a one-night stand two months ago. I was dropping stuff off for mom, and he was sneaking out of the house really early,” she added.

“My mom broke down and begged me not to hate her for it, but I dropped the stuff and left without saying much because I was angry. We talked later, and I asked her if this was a thing before, and she said no before I could finish.”

Her mom promised it was a one-off occurrence and said it would never, ever happen again. Her mom then pleaded with her not to hate her for what she did.

Well, two weeks after that chat, her mom learned that she was pregnant from her one-night stand with the neighbor. When her mom broke the news, she was pretty dismissive, and her mom gave her space to process it all.

Several days later, her mom insisted that she had to move back home so that she could help her raise the baby on board, because the baby deserved to have a family. She freaked out on her mom and said a lot of hurtful things, but they were true.

“Like how I wasn’t going to help her raise that dude’s baby, and how I couldn’t believe she’d want to have his baby, knowing how much he hated dad,” she said.

“I told her she clearly liked the guy and didn’t [care] about my dad when she was talking like that. She said the baby isn’t him and the baby will be our family.”

“I told her I was never going to raise that baby with her, and I won’t help her bring that dude into our lives. She asked me the next day, and I gave her the same answer. Then she got mad and started spewing hate about me to friends and family.”

Her mom’s next move was to try to get her dad’s family on her side, but as soon as they spoke to her, they told her mom she should feel nothing but shame.

They additionally informed her mom that she was insane for wanting them to be on board with the neighbor’s baby, considering how this man treated her dad.

Her mom then took to social media to make horrible posts about her. Since then, her mom has been bombarding her with texts, asking if they can talk. She hasn’t responded, and her mom’s two best friends have been all over her to stay out of her mom’s personal life.

“I don’t really know what to do from here. We were close before, but I honestly want nothing to do with this,” she concluded.

Her mom is next-level nuts, and I’m not buying that this whole thing happened over the course of one night. It sounds more like her mom has been cheating with the neighbor for some time, and while her dad was still alive.

Not sure why her mom expects her to play dad to this kid when she should be asking the neighbor to help her be a happy family.

She should not cave to her mom’s demands, and she should make it clear that this is not her circus or her monkeys. It’s not her responsibility to care for her mom’s baby.

What advice do you have for her?
