She Didn’t Invite Her Teen Brother’s Girlfriend On A Family Vacation To Paris, And Her Brother’s Girlfriend Actually Flipped Out On Her

When this 33-year-old woman was younger, her family reportedly struggled a bit financially.

But she moved abroad when she was 23-years-old. And now that she and her husband are settled– with dual incomes from well-paying jobs– she wanted to treat her family to a nice trip.

After all, she realized that she had not been on vacation with her family since before the COVID-19 pandemic, and she had a good amount of savings.

She also did not really want to go visit her family back in her hometown– because then, the visit would turn into a catch-up with other people, and she really just wanted to see her immediate family.

So, she decided to book a trip to Paris for herself, her husband, her two children, and her parents and younger brother– who is 18.

She paid for the flights and the hotel accommodations. She also planned to pay for most of the dining and shopping expenses during the family vacation– which is set to take place during her brother’s school break for Easter.

“And all of us adults coordinated our annual leave around it,” she added.

Although, it appears that her brother told his 17-year-old girlfriend about the trip– who he has been dating for about 18 months now.

So, she started receiving a bunch of messages from his brother’s girlfriend, who claimed to be super excited about the vacation.

She was honestly confused, though, and asked the girl what she meant. So, it was at that point she learned her brother’s girlfriend thought she was invited and claimed to be beyond excited to join their family on the trip.

Now, she was caught off guard by that and decided to text her brother– asking him if he invited his girlfriend to go, too. Apparently, though, her brother claimed that he did not do that. Instead, he said he only told his girlfriend that he was going to Paris.

So, she decided to respond to her brother’s girlfriend by “politely” texting her that the vacation was for family only. She also claimed she was sure that her brother would bring back a souvenir.

“But, unfortunately, she would not be coming with us,” she told her brother’s girlfriend.

Well, it turned out that her brother’s girlfriend did not take the news well. In fact, she actually flipped out and called her a selfish rich jerk. Then, her brother’s girlfriend claimed to be family and said that she should be treated like so.

Honestly, though, she has only met her brother’s girlfriend twice. So while she acknowledges that they are together, she feels like she really doesn’t know the teen. On top of that, it never even occurred to her to invite her brother’s girlfriend– given how young they are and the fact that they aren’t married.

“In mine and my husband’s family, you would only invite a spouse,” she said.

“And nobody I know would consider someone ‘family’ until they’re married. Even then, you wait to be invited. You don’t invite yourself.”

Regardless of her own opinion, though, her brother’s girlfriend is still really upset. So, she has been left wondering whether not inviting her brother’s girlfriend on the family vacation was a jerky thing to do or not.

Is she required to treat her brother’s girlfriend to a vacation abroad? Can you believe her brother’s girlfriend fliped out?  Does it make sense why she didn’t extend an invite in the first place, given how young her brother and his girlfriend are? Or should she have included her brother’s girlfriend on the trip?
