TikToker Melissa (@mels_scribblings) is describing a first date she went on with a guy named John. And, of course, the date turned out to be a horrible one.

They connected online and seemed to click really well, so they decided to meet up at a club where he knew the owner. When she arrived, she instantly recognized his face. However, he had been very misleading about his height.

John gave her an awkward hug and told her that she was much taller than he had expected. Then, he looked unhappily at the line of people waiting to get inside the club and suggested they take a rickshaw across town to a different place he had helped build.

She agreed, so they headed over to a bar. John paid the rickshaw fee but failed to tip the driver. Upon their arrival, he saw the owner standing outside the bar, so he immediately jumped out of the rickshaw to say hello. She took that moment to tip the driver.

Afterward, she joined John and the owner of the bar. The owner asked John who she was, and he replied that she was his date. Melissa realized that John had forgotten her name, so she introduced herself.

The owner invited them inside the bar and offered them a shot on the house. They chatted with the owner for a little while, but she had to leave to take care of some business. At that point, John looked at Melissa and asked how she felt about beer.

Melissa told him that she wasn’t a big fan of beer. John went ahead and ordered them two beers anyway and started a tab. He wanted to go upstairs, so they walked up to the second floor of the building.

As they entered the doorway, he stopped and informed her that he had seen four or five people he would love to connect with. He asked her to grab them a table while he took off to network with people.

So, she sat down at a table by herself, enjoying the music the band was playing. Then, a bachelor party came in and saw her sitting alone. They approached her and asked what she was doing by herself.

She explained that she was actually on a first date, and he had ditched her to network. After chatting briefly, the groom let it slip that his best man was single. Finally, John came back. He had been gone for about fifteen to twenty minutes.

He stepped in front of Melissa and introduced himself to each man in the group, repeatedly saying, “Hi, I’m John. I helped build the place.”

The group of guys were weirded out and quickly left. John asked her if they could go up to the roof. Immediately upon getting up to the roof, he declared that they should climb onto the roof itself.

Melissa was wearing a skirt and high-heeled shoes, so she didn’t really like his idea too much. However, she felt like she didn’t have a choice.

When they were situated on the roof, he turned to her and asked if she liked tattoos. Melissa said she did, and John told her that he wanted to get tattoos of wings that ran down his arms.

The first wing would represent the seventeen times someone had tried to end his life, and the second wing would signify the seventeen times he had saved someone’s life. For the rest of the date, he shared all of those stories with her.

One of those stories involved him rescuing children who fell through a frozen pond during the winter.

It was the reason he moved down south. He didn’t want to spend the rest of his life diving into icy waters to save people.

After telling that story, they climbed down from the roof and went back inside the bar. Melissa was trying to reinstall the Uber app on her phone, but it was taking a while to download because she didn’t have very good service at the bar.

He interrupted her, saying she needed to pick up the tab since he had paid for the rickshaw. Once she paid the bill, she continued trying to download the app.

John chimed in again, suggesting they share a ride and split the fare. She agreed and asked him if he could order a ride instead since her phone wasn’t working.

He refused to do so, then said he would prefer to walk her back to her car, which was a mile and a half away at the club.

Melissa told him she didn’t want to walk since she wore heels. He started to grow impatient, and Melissa was uncomfortable, so she agreed to walk back.

On the walk, he asked her questions about herself for the first time during their date. He proceeded to criticize her for her feelings and life goals and always managed to redirect the conversation to himself.

At last, they reached Melissa’s vehicle. She got into her truck and was about to close the door when he stopped her and asked for a ride home. When they got to his house, she bid him goodnight, trying to get him out of the car as quickly as possible.

But he leaned over the console and requested a kiss. She told him she didn’t kiss on first dates, which caused him to scramble out of the vehicle–a terrible ending to a terrible date.
