When TikToker Gabriella (@canihaveitspicy) matched with a guy on a dating app, she thought she was in for some light-hearted banter or flirtatious messages.

Instead, he asked her a very off-putting question. Too bad the app didn’t come with a warning label.

So, while they were chatting, they made plans to meet in person. Then, out of the blue, he asked her what made her so special and how she would stand out from the 100 other women who were allegedly clamoring for his attention. Apparently, this is what dating in your thirties looks like nowadays.

Of course, Gabriella was rightfully unimpressed and no longer wanted to meet him. She could not let that nonsensical question slide without a little spice, either.

Like any self-respecting woman with standards, she responded with something snarky and blocked him with a quickness, walking herself out of that mess.

Overall, her dating story is a reminder that you do not need to audition for someone who thinks love is like a reality dating competition on TV.

You never have to prove your value or explain yourself to someone looking to inflate their ego.

If someone wants you to convince them that you’re worthy of time, attention, and respect, they’re already showing you that they are incapable of giving you those things.

The right person will not ask that of you because they will recognize that you deserve the very best treatment.

The comments section quickly filled with validation from other women. Many users praised Gabriella for her quick wit and firm boundaries. They told her that she did the right thing by shutting that behavior down without hesitation.

“Immediate block is the correct response. He’s trying to see if you’re insecure because he intends to manipulate you,” pointed out one user.

“He was interviewing you for the job position of girlfriend for 5+ years with no ring, who does all wife duties. You dodged a bullet with that one, girl,” commented another.

“I’d ask if he has a job because there’s no way he has a job and is entertaining 100 women??? How does he have the time?” questioned someone else.

What’s the cringiest thing someone has ever asked you on a dating app?
