A mom named Kara, who goes by @clearancewithkara on TikTok, says her 12-year-old son was at a school dance on his last day of school prior to winter break when one of the teachers took issue with her son.
Her son was being held up in the air by a group of his friends, and Kara says she gets that it could have been viewed as dangerous, so she would have been supportive of the teacher separating the kids to keep them safe.
However, according to Kara, this teacher in question pulled her son out of his group of friends, screamed at him for dancing, and slapped him across his face!
“That’s not ok, and the fact that you’re telling everybody this was an accident and you were talking with your hands, my child would not have a mark on his face an hour and a half after the incident that I was able to take a photo of and give to the police, if it was an accident,” Kara explained.
“It was not. The school decided to tell everybody that they were going to look into it when school got back. I didn’t agree with it; we called the police.”
“It’s been almost two months now, the teacher was never placed on leave, never fired, we still don’t have charges pressed.”
Kara has since talked to the prosecutor’s office, and she’s hoping that will cause something to change here. In the meantime, Kara has had to remove her son from school, which he loves, in order to homeschool him.
Kara’s son has always gotten straight As and been on the Honor Roll. He’s never gotten in trouble before and actually earned the title of Student of the Month back in November, a month before the school dance.
What’s interesting is that Kara says the teacher who allegedly slapped her son was not a teacher he knew, and the teacher didn’t know her son either.

Her son had to scroll through the school directory and look at all the photos of various teachers in the district to tell Kara who had put her hands on him.
“She did not know my child. She smacked my child across the face as a form of disciplinary measure for dancing at a school dance,” Kara continued.
People had a lot to say in the comments on Kara’s video, even offering up advice for how they would handle the situation.
“I would have filed a restraining order on the teacher and kept him in school that would have forced them to do something about the teacher. If she can’t be at the same address as him, she can’t teach there,” one person commented.
“Laying your hands on a child is never okay, unless it’s family disciplining the child. As a teacher myself, this is not okay and I’m surprised this teacher is still teaching…I hope that teacher loses her teaching license and never teaches again so that your kid can go back to school since he thrives in a social environment,” another person said.
“I hope CPS is involved. Leaving a mark on a child when disciplining is an offensible charge. If you were to do that to your child, there would be a full-blown investigation on you as the parent. I cannot understand why there were no charges brought up on that teacher or why that teacher is still allowed to be near children,” a third person added.
