Jacey, who goes by @bobdurst on TikTok, met a guy on a dating app who asked her to go out to dinner with him for their first date.

Jacey was thrilled, so she said yes. The guy told her to pick any restaurant she wanted, so she selected sushi, only to have this guy tell her that he was allergic to all kinds of fish. Jacey wonders if that was a red flag, in hindsight, but she still wanted to move forward with the date.

The guy told her to pick a different place. Jacey let him throw another idea out there instead of suggesting something else, and he mentioned they should go to this Brazilian place that was all-you-can-eat.

That wasn’t exactly what Jacey had in mind for the perfect date setting, eating until you burst, but whatever.

“Who am I to say no to a free meal? If he likes that, I’m all for it. So I say sure. I say sure. Day rolls around, he’s responsive, he’s excited, I’m excited,” Jacey explained in her video.

“I show up two minutes early. I text him, I say, ‘Hey, two minutes early, but I’m here.’ No reply. Five minutes go by. Ten minutes go by. Fifteen minutes go by.”

“No reply, and he’s not there. I leave…I’m confused, I’m concerned, and I’m disappointed. I get a FaceTime from him, probably like two and a half hours later.”

Jacey didn’t pick up, because she wasn’t really interested in what he had to say. Next, he texted her, and the reason he didn’t show up to their date was pretty crazy.

This guy told her that he had FaceTimed her to prove that he was sitting in a hospital bed. Apparently, when Jacey texted him to say she was at the restaurant, he ended up looking down at his phone while he was driving and ran a red light.

A truck slammed into him, causing him to flip his car. And that was how he landed in the hospital and missed their date completely.

“I said, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry, I guess we’re going to have to reschedule.’ And then he said, ‘Haha, I guess you can pay for the hospital bill,'” Jacey continued.

“And we never spoke again. We never spoke again, and I hope that guy’s doing well.”

Well, I suppose this is an excellent lesson in don’t text and drive, because you never know if it could end up getting you injured.

“What is this story I’m lol’ing,” one person commented on Jacey’s video.

“I feel like this is a movie from the 90s love story where then she goes to the hospital to go meet him!” someone else exclaimed.
