How would you feel if your spouse stopped paying rent without telling you, and then said you’re going to be homeless in a day because of that?

This woman has been married to her husband for two decades, and they share four children. Over lunch yesterday, he informed her that they’re being evicted from their house and will be homeless.

If they’re not out by today, the sheriff is coming to force them to leave. Her husband never told her that he stopped paying their rent back in October, which is why they’re losing the roof over their heads.

“We have a traditional marriage (my first mistake) in every sense. I’m a stay-at-home mom and have been for 20 years. He handles all finances (second mistake) and bills,” she explained.

“We have a decent income, over six figures. So there was no reason for this to happen because we can easily afford our rent.
Today has been spent packing up everything I own because if I don’t, I’ll never see it again.”

Her impulse is to leave him, and she had to talk to each of their children one by one when she picked them up from school, to tell them that they can’t live in their home anymore.

All of their kids are puzzled and heartbroken, and she feels the same way. She’s so angry at her husband for not only lying to her, but for losing their house and stability.

She has spoken to the landlord to get the truth, and she found out there’s a judgment against her and her husband for the back rent that they owe.

So either her husband went to court and didn’t tell her about that, or he hid the notices that were sent to him about it. Her husband was acting strange about her getting the mail over the last few months, and this is definitely why.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time this has occurred; close to a year ago, her husband stopped paying rent, but they were not thrown out.

Her husband only told her on the day they were supposed to go to court, meaning he spent months lying to her. He promised it wouldn’t happen to them again, but here they are.

Her husband booked them an Airbnb to live in temporarily while they figure out their next steps. She’s left wondering if it’s too dramatic of her to want a divorce since her husband cost them their house.

“Outside of this, we had a really great relationship and were best friends. We don’t fight often, and I thought we had great communication,” she continued.

“I don’t suspect an affair because he doesn’t have the opportunity, plus it’s just not something he would do. It’s the lying that makes me question everything. I hate lies. I’m a loyal person, almost to a fault, and I’m a very honest person.”

“I’d rather hurt someone with the truth than tell a lie. He knows this about me and knows how much I value honesty. I know that some people will divorce for less than this, and some accept a lot more. I also know that people will keep doing what you let them get away with. I feel like if I stay, I’m just sanctioning his lies.”

I do believe this is worth divorcing over, especially since her husband did this twice. I really wonder what he’s spending all their money on.
