This twenty-year-old woman was recently admitted to the hospital for a serious but non-life threatening illness.

And before admitting herself to the hospital, she had been in some severe pain for numerous days. Her roommate was actually the one who finally ended up convincing her to get some help and even took off from work to stay with her in the hospital.

“I cannot express how much her support has helped me as my own family lives too far away,” she said.

Her nineteen-year-old boyfriend Sam, on the other hand, has not been nearly as supportive.

They had been dating for about nine months, and as soon as her symptoms started, she told Sam. Then, once she decided to go to the hospital, she texted Sam about it a few times to update him on her condition.

The texts included what the nurses said, as well as a photo of herself with the IV while giving a thumbs-up.

“It was my first time ever in the hospital, and I just wanted to keep the bad situation as light-hearted as possible,” she explained.

She knew Sam was at work, though, so he did not read the messages until later in the evening. But, even after he saw them, he did not have much to say. Instead, he simply replied with a thumbs-up himself.

This was a red flag for her, so she then decided to ask Sam if everything was okay. And his response was pretty disheartening.

“Yeah, just you being in the hospital is giving me a lot of anxiety. I’d rather not see you looking like that,” he texted back.

She simply said it was okay, though, and decided not to message him anymore that evening.

But then, the next day, she received a call from Sam’s mother. Apparently, the mom was under the impression that she had sent Sam the photo of herself after he said he was uncomfortable– and basically reprimanded her.

“She reminded me that his grandfather only died a year earlier, and Sam had to spend a lot of time in and out of the hospital. So, the updates were making him grieve all over again,” she recalled.

So, after getting off the phone with his mom, she actually texted Sam and apologized for hurting his feelings. Yet, he still left her on read!

In turn, she was uber confused. Her roommate believes sending a simple photo was not wrong at all and that Sam is being way too sensitive and immature– especially by involving his mom.

Nonetheless, though, she knows how close Sam was to his grandfather and that he struggles with anxiety. So, she was honestly feeling pretty guilty about the entire situation.

Regardless, she never did get a chance to rectify it– because she woke up yesterday morning to another shocking text message. Apparently, he asked her for a “break” and claimed that there was “too much drama in the relationship.”

This, of all things, completely shocked her.

“I have been with Sam through all of his anxiety attacks– holding him crying in my arms more times than I can count. He has never done the same for me,” she vented.

Moreover, Sam even had the nerve to tell her that his mother said to “let go of his feelings” and that he would be returning to therapy because he would “need support when she’s gone.”

This made her literally laugh out loud. And now, she and her roommate have been trying to figure out how to end this wretched relationship once and for all.

Do you think she was ever in the wrong for sending Sam a photo of herself in the hospital? Is it bizarre that he had his mom call her? What would you have done in this situation?
