This 45-year-old woman, her husband, 46, and their two children all go to church together.

They have a 15-year-old son and a 14-year-old daughter. Their son is the only one in the family who isn’t religious.

Quite a few other teenagers attend their church, but because they all are deeply religious, her son chooses not to hang around them or have conversations with them.

At 14, her son was dating a girl who was 16, but because she graduated high school early and was headed off to college, they ended their relationship.

“My son was heartbroken because that was his first relationship. He started partying with his friends, and at these parties, there was alcohol and substances involved,” she said.

Not long ago, her son hooked up with a 14-year-old girl who went to their church.

The girl’s parents are pretty authoritarian and overprotective, and they’re not fans of people being physical before marriage.

After her son and the girl hooked up, the girl was under the impression that he had romantic feelings for her and wanted to be in a relationship, but this wasn’t the case.

“He told her no and told her it was a one-time thing, and he ghosted her,” she explained.

Then, the girl informed her parents of what happened, who in turn gossiped about it to all the members of their church.

The girl’s mother called her and screamed at her after she’d found out about their children hooking up. Later, her son started dating a 17-year-old girl who went to his school, which infuriated the girl’s parents because they didn’t believe she should let her son date at his age.

Her husband told the girl’s parents that they couldn’t undo what had already been done, and it was their son’s choice whether or not he wanted to date the girl or not, and he shouldn’t be forced into dating someone he didn’t want to.

However, she’s furious that her son ghosted this girl after hooking up with her, and she wonders if there’s anything she can do.

“The entire church is mad at me, and the girl’s parents want to meet with us and my son,” she shared.

Since the girl isn’t pregnant, apparently, the reason they want to have a conversation is because it was the girl’s first time hooking up with someone.

In her husband’s view, this talk would be pointless because the hookup already happened, so there’s nothing they can do to change it. The girl isn’t pregnant, and their son doesn’t want to date her in the first place, so he doesn’t know what the girl’s parents need to discuss.

What advice would you give her?
