If you found out that your best friend secretly recorded you taking a shower, then came up with an absolutely insane excuse for how it happened, would you forgive and forget?
This 23-year-old girl was invited to be in her male best friend's wedding as a groomsman, and she was asked to go to his bachelor party, but she wasn't planning on it for three reasons: she didn't have the money, she was the only girl invited, and she's in grad school.
But after her best friend and his fiancée generously paid for her plane ticket, she agreed to go. The bachelor trip started off without a problem.
The first night of the trip, they had some drinks, played a video game, and chilled. The following day, they went to a lake, and when they returned, all the guys began figuring out an order for taking showers.
Her best friend went first and told her she could go after him, but after he hopped out of the shower, he headed back into the bathroom, saying something about having to put deodorant on.
She waited in the hallway for him to be done, and after he took a long time, she called out to him. Eventually, he came out, and one of the groomsmen cracked a joke about how she had to be careful since her best friend had just been in the bathroom.
Anyway, she put her bag down, which had her things in it, and took a speedy shower, as there was a line of guys who needed to use it.
"When I got out and reached into my bag for clothes, I saw an iPhone lying on its side with the three cameras pointed directly toward me. At first I thought it couldn't possibly be recording, but I checked," she explained.
"It was recording, and the recording was about eight minutes long. I found multiple videos, around 5–7 total. Some appeared to be recorded from the bag and some from a cabinet."

"I also saw that the first video appeared to show the groom [without clothes on], although I stopped watching before seeing anything more. Clarification: [there was] only one I was in. I panicked."
She quickly deleted the videos and shoved the phone into the bottom of her bag. She was terrified that if the recording had been done with intention, her best friend would come back to collect his phone as soon as she walked out of there.
She then went to the best man to tell him about the videos, and he mentioned she should act like it had not happened. Next, she went to her best friend, who swore that he never would have recorded her taking a shower on purpose.
He offered up a weak excuse that he was playing around with the guys, recorded himself, and meant to slide the phone under the door of the bathroom as a prank.
"According to him, he didn't realize his phone was still recording or that it had ended up in the bathroom. He said he would never do something like that to me, and that I was the one person he had specifically tried not to cross boundaries with," she added.
"...I got his password to delete the videos from recently deleted. I was so freaked out and was not thinking properly. I just wanted it all gone as fast as possible. His fiancée said she believed his explanation."
"The next day, she also pointed out that because I deleted the videos, I don't have proof of exactly how they were recorded. The groom said he understands if I don't come to the wedding and that he and his wife respect whatever I decide to believe. They also offered to pay me for anything I spent on the wedding."
She really isn't sure what to make of this. She does believe there's an explanation behind how this phone did end up recording, but she's having a tough time with there being several videos, and the phone was placed in a way that clearly pictured her in the shower.
She's left wondering if she should accept her best friend's explanation, or if she should skip the wedding and put some space in between them until she feels more at ease.
Ok, can we talk about how her best friend's excuse makes no sense because if he slipped the phone under the door, how did it magically get into the closet or her bag??
Her best friend intentionally recorded her, and the girl he's engaged to has to be in on it too for not being irate or calling off the wedding.
She should not only refuse to attend the wedding, but she should also block her best friend for doing this to her. He's a creep.
What advice do you have for her?
