If you found out after less than a year of marriage that your spouse was hiding a very sordid history from you, would you be looking to get a divorce?

Eight months ago, this 27-year-old man married his 25-year-old wife, and she is four months pregnant with their firstborn child. Right around when his wife did get pregnant, he learned something wildly upsetting about her.

Apparently, she had at least two affairs with married, older men. One of them was with her boss, a decade older than her, and the other was with a small celebrity in their town who played shows in bars where she worked.

"I am deeply disgusted by this, both physically and morally. It shattered my perception of her, our marriage, and has erased all traces of any trust I had," he explained.

"I had asked her before about her [romantic] past since it always mattered to me greatly, and I knew she had [physical] relationships before me, which I didn't mind at all."

"When I asked about her previous partners, she invented names, people, and events and never mentioned her real partners because she knew I would never, in a million years, marry her if I found out about them. It made me feel cheated and conned into marrying her."

He actually uncovered her first affair by going through her phone and coming across screenshots from previous conversations she had with the guy.

He also learned that his wife was friends with her affair partner's wife, meanwhile she was sleeping with him behind this woman's back, hooking up with him in his car and at the company warehouse.

As for the famous local musician, his wife's second affair partner, he has a ton of mutual friends with this man. The majority of them know about the affair, which he finds embarrassing, since he's the last to know.

"We are currently in the process of constructing a house on some land my dad gave us, and it's almost halfway finished, and our unborn son has been the center of my universe from the moment I found [out] she was pregnant," he added.

"So I've invested a ton of money, time, and effort into this relationship, and I love this woman the way I've never loved anyone in my life."

"However, I'm seriously considering filing for divorce since the resentment and disgust have steadily grown over the months, and I'm finding it more difficult to sleep in the same bed with her or kiss her or touch her in any way, so much so that it triggers a gag reflex and makes me want to vomit."

Oh, and when he called his wife out, she kept on lying to his face and denying that she was a mistress two times over. She lied so convincingly that she had him questioning his sanity and judgment.

Not only is he hurt by her lies, but he's also offended that his wife was friends with the wife of one of her affair partners and did horrible things anyway.

The image he used to have of his wife being a good person is utterly destroyed. He's left wondering how on earth he can begin to deal with everything.

"Does anyone have any experience regarding retroactive jealousy and disgust like this? I am terrified [of] what divorce could do to my life and the life of my child, who would never even see his parents happy and together," he continued.

We really have two different problems here. The first is that his wife intentionally lied to him, knowing he would never marry her if he was aware of the truth, and that's a serious betrayal.

It's acceptable for him to walk away from her based on that alone, but then there she went, lying to him yet again after he did figure out she wasn't being honest.

Moving to the second issue, he's distressed and disgusted to a physical level, and I don't see how he can ever get over that. There are a ton of red flags when looking at his wife, but if he wants to take a chance on seeing if he can ever forgive her, they definitely need couples counseling.

He can still divorce her if therapy doesn't help at all, and since he did say he loves her, it sounds like he's not ready to leave just yet.

What advice do you have for him?
